Strengthening Freedom of Learning (Merdeka Belajar), SCI Collaborates with Mataram University and Local Government

Solo, 1 December 2021 – In conjunction with the Inter-Centre Collaboration Meeting (ICCM) on 1 – 3 December 2021, SEAMEO CENTRES Indonesia (SCI) is strengthening its cooperation strategy by collaborating with the University of Mataram (UNRAM) and local governments. Located at the Best Western Premier Hotel, Solo, the 4th ICCM is the last time the 7 SCI routine meetings will take place in 2021 in the context of coordinating the 7 SCI programs, budgets, and operations.

The event was opened by Mrs. Yunitasari, the Coordinator of Foreign Cooperation, who represented the Head of the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Relations, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. “I hope that this ICCM can increase collaboration between Centers and strengthen cooperation in improving the quality of education in Indonesia and Southeast Asia”, Yunitasari said.

The seven SCIs started the discussion with the topic of SCI’s DIPA absorption for the Fiscal Year 2021 and SCI’s Financial Strategy for 2022, followed by a discussion on the plan to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between 7 SCIs and the Ogan Ilir Regency Government, the Ogan Komering Ulu Regency Government, and the South Sumatra Provincial Government.

On the 2nd day, the SCI team discussed with representatives of UNRAM and the Mataram City Education Office regarding the follow-up to cooperation between parties. Regarding the cooperation between SCI and UNRAM, on this occasion, both parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement. In addition, the SCI team also discussed education and training guidelines that will become the standard for organizing activities for all Centres.

A total of 60 participants consisting of the Board of Directors, Division Heads, managers, and staff, attended offline and online at the event. Also present at the event were invitations from the University of Mataram.

The presentation on SCI 7 Human Resource Management delivered by Ms. Dyah Ismayanti, M.ED., Head of the Human Resources Bureau, Kemdikbudristek, became the final session of this activity. The 4th ICCM was officially closed by Dr. Indrawati, Director of SEAMEO QITEP in Science, on December 3, 2021. He expressed his gratitude to all parties who have made this activity a success.
